Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is comprised of seven members, each serving a term of four years.

Duties and powers of the Planning Commission include:

  1. Prepare the Comprehensive Plan for the development of the township and present it for consideration of the Board of Commissioners and the general public.

  2. Prepare and present for consideration of the Board of Commissioners, and, after adoption, maintain and make recommendations for changes to the Township's official map, the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision and Land Development Regulations, Planned Residential Development Regulations, Building Code and a Housing Code.

  3. Promote public interest in, and understanding of, the Comprehensive Plan and planning.

  4. Make recommendations to governmental, civil and private agencies and individuals as to the effectiveness of the development and planning proposals of such agencies and individuals.

  5. To accept and file any information voluntarily supplied that exceeds the requirements of the Ordinance establishing the Ethics Board.

  6. Hold public hearings and meetings.

  7. Require from other departments and agencies of the township, such available information as relates to the work of the Planning Commission.

  8. Enter upon any land, in performance of its functions, to make examination and surveys either after permission has been obtained from the land owner or after public notices.

  9. Perform such other act or make such studies as may be necessary to fulfill its obligations and duties.

Regular meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at the Whitehall Township Municipal Building, 3219 MacArthur Road.  The Regular Meeting is preceded by a Workshop at
6:30 p.m.
